MASCARPONE (MASCHILE SINGOLARE)

Alessandro Guida & Matteo Pilati | Italy | 2021 | 101 min | ITALIAN S.-T.EN.

In collaboration with

In this sensual journey, a freshly dumped Antonio (Giancarlo Commare) is guided by his very sex positive roommate (Eduardo Valdarnini) and very sexy boss at a bakery (Gianmarco Saurino). As hot as it is heartwarming, Mascarpone is a Rome-flavoured treat that celebrates unexpected bonds and the special taste of making it on your own.

In the art of making pastry, one must be dedicated, as well as passionate. After fully committed Antonio is dropped by his husband of 12 years for another man, he bends towards passion, giving in to his physical urges in ways he has never allowed himself to experience. The whiff of independence wakes Antonio up to many delicious possibilities (and the film’s delightful diversions). However, his hookup app experience also causes distortion, and he begins to lose sight of who he truly is, and who he could be. Unable, even, to notice the ways his boss, Luca, is loosening up on his “only once” rule. Does Antonio need a palate cleanser – or a whole new palate?
