Center of my World

Synopsis:

A devastating storm. A list of names of possible fathers. An estranged twin sister with an uncanny ability to attract animals who sneaks out the window in the middle of the night. A beautiful and “devious” boy. Just a few of the fragments at the heart of this film’s mystery, which begins to engulf a teenager’s seemingly fairytale existence in a small German village. In flitting, propulsive scenes that skip around in time and mood, Center of My World, based on a bestselling novel, introduces us to Phil (Louis Hofmann) and his complicated family. As his family unravels over incidents that he can’t quite grasp, Phil seeks solace in his best friend, Kat, while pursuing Nicholas (Jannik Schümann of the impossibly blue eyes), the boy she’s warned him about. A boy he may or may not know from his past and who awakens in him new feelings of lust and, possibly, love. By exploring the highs and lows of sex, friendship, and what it means to be a family, Phil comes of age in a quest to find the right center of his world before it all comes crashing down. – Michael Belcher
