Hollywood in the 1950s. The movie business is booming, but trouble is looming. Commies are the new American bogeymen, and Hollywood studios are crawling with Feds seeking Reds. Hunky star Guy Stone enjoys the spoils of the American dream. But he also enjoys other guys, and since the government boys figure gay = communist, the studio fears that Guy may be exposed as "pink," if not exactly pinko. They fix him up in a marriage to sweet, simple, would-be actress Sally. As Guy’s bitter acting rival Freddie plots to expose him, Guy flirts with danger when he meets dreamy, leftist screenwriter Rick, and ponders whether being a progressive would help him make progress in Rick’s well-filled trousers! What’s a horny Hollywood hunk to do? Richard Day’s brisk direction and crackling dialogue, coupled with hilarious performances by Matt Letscher, Carrie Preston, Jack Plotnick, Adam Greer and Veronica Cartwright, make Straight Jacket the perfect culmination for your festival fun.
