| Zoom sur la France Contemporary French cinema has brought challenging representations of sexuality to the screen. Directors such as François Ozon (Gouttes d’eau sur pierres brûlantes), Sébastien Lifshitz (Presque rien, Terre froide), Alain Berliner (Ma vie en rose), Jacques Martineau and Olivier Ducastel (Drôle de Félix, Ma vraie vie à Rouen) have recently further pushed the sexuality envelop by exploring gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender themes and characters. This year, image+nation has once again amassed a stunning collection of French feature length and short films. From a teenage girl’s touching coming-of-age story in Clara’s Summer to the haunting exploration of the emotional gulf between a father and son (Un fils) to a tale of seduction and power with Grande école, our record number of French features offer a richly varied sampling of a blossoming French queer cinema.
